My bodice is almost finished (just needs a little more tweeking), so this post is long overdue. And it isn't complete also, because I haven't taken any pictures of the (almost) finished bodice yet. Sorry about that :D. But at least I can show you my design and the beginning of the constructing.

Today I have come up with another solution. I think I will stick with the long draped overskirt but will sew extra ribbons on the front to pull the skirt up. I'm also considering of adding an extra apron on the front. Like this:

The short jacket is finished. I used the butterick 4926 pattern, but modified it to fit my design. I used the front and back from view A/B, but I cut the bottom edge straight and not curved like the pattern. I also changed the sleeves. I did not use the short sleeves either. I've been quite ill the past week and a half. I've spend the last few days in bed just feeling miserable. But yesterday I suddenly felt a lot better and felt the urge to start sewing again. This week I continued with the pleats on the fantail skirt. Before we left for our spring holiday I had already made the black taffeta boxpleats on the backside. Now I've added another row of pleats, these are in bronze taffeta. On the front I've made large pleats in bronze taffeta. And then I added a satin trim for some more decoration. So this week I also started with my natural form steampunk gown. Although I'm halfway making the overskirt, I decided to make the underskirt first. That's my usual order of working, so I have absolutely no idea why I started differently this time.
